The Story
The Atlanta Apollos played at Atlanta Stadium from 1967 to 1973 before eventually folding and reforming in Atlanta in 1973 to become the Atlanta Chiefs. Even though the Atlanta Apollos won the Atlantic Division Championship in 1968 it wasn't enough to keep the white and red around. With players like Phil Woosnam & Vic Rouse donning the red and white in Atlanta, the Atlanta Apollos should have been able to fill seats. The reality however was much different and with low attendance, the Atlanta Apollos soon reformed to play the 1974 season as the Atlanta Chiefs.
