The Story
Capitalizing on the lack of hockey teams in a number of major American cities and mid-level Canadian cities, the WHA was the first major league to compete with the NHL. The Los Angeles Sharks entered the league in 1972, playing at the L.A. Sports Arena. The Sharks graced the ice until 1974 when the team was moved to Baltimore to become the Baltimore Blades.
